Lewes Delaware
The city of Lewes has Ocean and Bay beaches. It is known for some of the best sport fishing on the East coast, and is also the First town in the First State. Lewes is one of the most historic towns and was founded in 1631 by the Dutch. Lewes attracts thousands of visitors each year. Lewes has charming shops, pubs, restaurants, historic buildings, and lots more. Recreational activities include deep- sea charters for fishing big game fish in the Atlantic Ocean or fishing trout, stripers, flounder, and other local fish in the Delaware Bay either by boat or off the pier at Cape Henlopen State Park. Cape Henlopen state park offers Biking, Camping, fishing, horse back riding, hunting, kayaking, picnicking, surfing, swimming, they offer a 3 mile long trail that loops the park great for hiking, summer camp, and several different activities at the nature centers for children and family activities. Another major attraction is the Cape May-Lewes Ferry which transports passengers from Lewes to Cape May NJ. Lewes is the perfect year round get away! |
